We toured one of the main Geothermal plants outside of Reykjavik. We learned that all the electricity AND hot water in the city comes from this plant. The hot water is pumped through insulated pipes to big water tanks in the middle of the city. Our heat and showers this morning came from this plant.

Our tour guide was from Philly.
This map shows the two continental plates. The yellow blob is a hotspot right underneath Iceland, which makes the geology even more unique!

This is a model of the tanks in Reykjavik. They are actually around a building, which is the main museum.
